Arizona State vs Rutgers 2nd half wager

Arizona State is a potent offense. There defense has been awful in the first half and they trail by a TD. Expect to see their offense lighting up the score board and their defense coming up with a couple key stops. ASU will score TDs, Rutgers will probably get stuck with a couple field goals. That will be the difference. This line is very beatable so I have loaded some money in my account and place 2 units on ASU -5.5 second half.

Watch them light up the score.

Texas Tech (6-4)
UNLV (2-5)
Texas Tech at UNLV
Saturday, December 17 2005 - 10:00 PM ET
Thomas & Mack Center - Las Vegas, NV

DATE & TIME: Saturday, December 17th, 10:00 p.m. (et).

FACTS & STATS: Site: Thomas & Mack Center (18,500) -- Las Vegas, Nevada. Television: ESPN2. Home Record: Texas Tech 6-1, UNLV 2-1. Away Record: Texas Tech 0-1, UNLV 0-4. Neutral Record: Texas Tech 0-2, UNLV 0-0. Conference Record: Texas Tech 0-0, UNLV 0-0. Series Record: Texas Tech leads, 2-0.

GAME NOTES: The UNLV Runnin' Rebels will try to put the brakes on their current five-game losing streak when they host Bob Knight and his Texas Tech Red Raiders tonight at the Thomas & Mack Center. After opening the season with two straight victories, the Runnin' Rebels have fallen flat, losing five straight contests, which includes a tough 72-67 setback to Minnesota last Saturday. Since the 2003-04 season, the Rebels have played extremely well at home, posting a 13-3 ledger in non-conference action. UNLV, which begins a five-game homestand tonight, has recorded a sensational 66-22 overall mark in front of the hometown faithful dating back to the beginning of the 2000-01 season. As for the Red Raiders, they snapped a brief two-game slide with a 103-50 thrashing of UT-Pan American last time out. Texas Tech started the season 2-2 before winning tree straight contests against Furman (83-74), Morehead State (76-42) and TCU (81-54). Since taking over as head coach, Knight has led the Red Raiders to an impressive 47-11 record in non-conference action. This is the first meeting between these two schools in more than 20 years, the last being back in 1973. The Red Raiders have won both previous encounters, posting a 67-53 victory in 1971 and an 82-72 win two years later.

Despite being just 6-4 on the season, the Red Raiders have played well at both ends of the court, averaging 74.9 ppg behind 45.3 percent shooting from the floor, while holding their opponents to just 65.2 ppg thanks to just a 40.4 showing from the floor. In the team's last contest, a 53-point victory over UT-Pan American, the Red Raiders were sensational in hitting 62.9 percent of their total shots, which included a 9-of-20 showing from long range. Tech was also solid at the defensive end, holding UTPA to an anemic 28.3 percent shooting effort. The Red Raiders also recorded 16 steals and forced a whopping 31 turnovers. Jarrius Jackson, who leads the squad with 18.2 ppg, paced the Red Raiders in the victory, scoring 22 points while dishing out six assists and collecting six steals. Dior Lowhorn added 19 points, while Terry Martin tallied 13 points in the win. Martin Zeno, who is posting 15.7 ppg this season for Tech, finished the game with just four points in 13 minutes of action.

While the Rebels are averaging 71.4 ppg this season, the team's problems has come at the defensive end where it is allowing 71.6 ppg behind 45.1 percent shooting. In the five-point setback to Minnesota last time out, the Rebels permitted the Golden Gophers to connect on 43.9 percent of their shots from the field, which included a 5-of-13 showing from long range. Offensively, UNLV played well, shooting 47.4 percent from the floor, which included a 10-of-22 effort from beyond the arc. Michael Umeh, who is averaging 14.0 ppg for the Rebels this season, paced the team with 19 points, while Curtis Terry added 12 points. Louis Amundson tallied 11 points for UNLV, while Dustin Villepigue contributed 10 points and nine rebounds. On the season, Amundson has been the best player on the UNLV roster, as the forward is averaging a double-double with 16.4 ppg and 10.9 rpg.

While the Rebels are home and have played extremely well at the offensive end for much of the season, they just aren't up to par with a team as productive as this group of Red Raiders.

DATE & TIME: Saturday, December 17th, 12:30 a.m. (et).

FACTS & STATS: Site: Thomas & Mack Center (19,522) -- Las Vegas, Nevada Television: ESPN. Home Record: VaTech 7-1, Stanford 2-1. Away Record: VaTech 0-2, Stanford 0-2. Neutral Record: VaTech 0-0, Stanford 0-0. Conference Record: VaTech 0-1, Stanford 0-0. Series Record: Virginia Tech leads, 1-0.

GAME NOTES: A couple of schools meeting for the first time since 1972 square off at the Thomas & Mack Center tonight, as the Virginia Tech Hokies battle the Stanford Cardinal in the Las Vegas Showdown. These two teams have met on just one other occasion, with the Hokies claiming a 77-71 victory all the way back in the 1972 ODU Tournament. The Hokies enter tonight's bout with a two- game win streak, which includes a 73-64 triumph over St. John's a week ago. With that triumph, the team improved to a solid 7-3 overall, although that does include a 0-2 mark away from home. As for Stanford, it has stumbled out of the gate, losing three of its first five games. The team is coming off a 13-day break, as it was last in action on December 4th, that being a 64-58 setback to UC-Davis. It was the second straight loss for the Cardinal, which denied head coach Trent Johnson his 100th career victory. Stanford has competed in the Las Vegas Showdown (formerly Las Vegas Shootout) twice before, beating UNLV (77-66) in 2002-03 and falling to BYU (76-81) in 2001-02.

The Hokies are guided by the trio of Coleman Collins, Zabian Dowdell and Deron Washington, and all three have made significant contributions to the team's scoring average of 72.5 ppg on 47.6 percent shooting from the floor. Collins is tops on the club in both scoring (17.1 ppg) and rebounding (8.1 rpg), and he is making good on 56.1 percent of his total shots. Dowdell ranks second in scoring with 15.9 ppg while adding 3.3 apg to his stat line, and Washington generates 12.4 ppg and 4.8 rpg. Collins poured in a game-high 21 points to lead Virginia Tech to a nine-point win over St. John's last time out. Dowdell added 18 points and five assists, while Washington chipped in with 10 points. The Hokies shot a solid 52.9 percent from the floor in the contest and made 15-of-24 free throws. The team also forced the Red Storm into 18 turnovers, while committing just nine miscues itself.

One of the main reasons for Stanford's poor start has been subpar shooting, as Johnson's club is hitting just 41.0 percent from the floor and a dismal 27.6 percent from long range. Matt Haryasz can't be faulted for any of the team's early season woes, as he leads the club in scoring and rebounding with his double-double average of 19.0 ppg and 11.0 rpg. Dan Grunfeld is second with 16.0 ppg and 5.8 rpg, but he is shooting just 36.5 percent from the field. Chris Hernandez has been responsible for getting the ball to Haryasz and Grunfeld and has done so for a team-best 4.2 apg. He is also chipping in 11.0 ppg. In the club's previous contest, Haryasz poured in 20 points and ripped down nine caroms, but it wasn't enough in a six-point loss to UC-Davis. The Cardinal shot 43.9 percent from the field, but went just 1-of-15 from long range and 7-of-15 at the foul line. The team was also outrebounded 40-33 in the setback.

Stanford could be the most disappointing team in the nation thus far, as it was picked by many to finish near the top of the Pac-10 standings this season. The team has not only lost three games already, but each setback has come to much lesser competition. Virginia Tech, on the other hand, has played extremely well in the early stages and nearly knocked off top-ranked Duke. The Hokies have the advantage in the low post and with a big game on the boards, they should prevail over a Cardinal club that has been out of action for quite some time.

The New York Knicks hope to avoid their longest losing streak of the season when they host the Indiana Pacers on Saturday. The Knicks are in the midst of a a five-game slide, matching the slump they suffered through during their 0-5 start. They have lost seven of their last eight games overall.New York is coming off Friday's 122-111 loss in Atlanta in which it allowed the Hawks to shoot a league season-high 63 percent (43-of-62), including 12-of-16 from the arc.Jamal Crawford scored 23 points and Stephon Marbury added 21 for the Knicks, who were without center Eddy Curry after the 7-footer sprained his ankle in practice Thursday. His status for Saturday's contest is uncertain.Indiana has not let the controversy involving Ron Artest stop the club from winning three of its four games since the enigmatic forward requested to be traded. The Pacers posted a 93-83 home win over Utah on Saturday behind the efforts of star Jermaine O'Neal, who collected 27 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks.Stephen Jackson and Austin Croshere each scored 16 points for Indiana, which held the Jazz to 4-for-19 (21 percent) shooting in the final period. The Knicks and Pacers split their four meetings last season, with each team winning once on the other's court.

Michigan is laying 6 pts at home against a ranked opponent. When I went to place a bet, the line had jumped to -8. Michigan seems to be a strong wager at -6, but even though the betting percentages show UCLA with more bets, Michigan has been pounded. The line didn't drop, but stayed at 8, so I made a 1 unit play on UCLA +8. Both teams like to slow the game down (Under looks like a good bet), so I think UCLA can keep this game within 8 pts.

Michigan coach Tommy Amaker will get another chance to gauge just how good his Wolverines are.Michigan will seek its best start in 17 years when it hosts 14th-ranked UCLA in its first matchup against a ranked foe on Saturday. The Wolverines have bounced back nicely from a 13-18 campaign last season that included a season-ending injury to leading scorer Lester Abram and off-court problems that forced Daniel Horton to miss the final 12 games. Both senior guards are back, combining for 28 points per game as Michigan is one win away of its best start in a non-vacated season since the 11-0 beginning in the national championship campaign of 1988-89. The 1996-97 club began 8-0 but was forced to vacate the season due to NCAA violations. The Wolverines used a strong second-half to capture their first win against a high-profile opponent, a 71-67 victory at Notre Dame on December 3. Horton scored 19 points and Dion Harris sank a jumper with 16 seconds left to seal the win.Last Saturday, Michigan recorded a 68-47 victory at South Florida with 18 points from Abram and 16 from Horton.UCLA is coming off a 67-56 victory over then-No. 22 Nevada in the Wooden Classic. Sophomore point guard Jordan Farmar showed that he was nearly healed from the right ankle sprain that forced him to miss two earlier games, scoring 24 points.Although Farmar is back to full strength, the Bruins are still limited due to injuries. Starting center Michael Fey is not Shipp is out until late-December due to hip surgery. Backup center Lorenzo Mata is expected back after missing the previous two games with a concussion.UCLA leads the all-time series, 8-3, including an 81-79 victory last season. Michigan won the last meeting in Crisler Arena, a 70-66 triumph in December 2003.

Louisville would love to do what Kentucky did to it last season. The fourth-ranked Cardinals seek a bit of revenge when they face the 22nd-ranked Wildcats on Saturday in one of college basketball's greatest rivalries. In the annual intrastate matchup last season, Louisville led by 16 points at the half but saw that advantage completely erased when Kentucky's Patrick Sparks was fouled attempting a 3-pointer and sank three free throws with 0.6 seconds remaining to steal a 60-58 victory. It was 15th win in the past 23 meetings for the Wildcats, who enter the anticipated matchup with losses in each of the past two Saturdays. On December 10, Kentucky shot just 31 percent (19-of-61) as it had a five-game winning streak over Indiana snapped in a 79-53 thrashing.Despite the setback, the Wildcats have won 23 consecutive games following a loss, and are 43-9 under coach Tubby Smith in his nine seasons under those circumstances.Sparks, who scored 18 of his 25 points in the second half in last season's win over the Cardinals, will need to step up again to provide a second option to sophomore Rajon Rondo, who leads Kentucky in scoring, rebounding and assists.Rondo had a career-high 21 points against the Hoosiers, but no other player contributed more than eight as the Wildcats were held under 60 points for the first time this season.Louisville is coming off a 78-54 victory over Chicago State where it shot 65 percent from the field in the second half to pull away. Taquan Dean scored 21 points and Brandon Jenkins added 14 as the Cardinals posted their sixth straight win to begin the season, their best start since 1996-97.In its last trip to Rupp Arena in 2003, Louisville snapped Kentucky's 27-game regular season winning streak with a 65-56 triumph.Louisville coach Rick Pitino, who also guided Kentucky for eight seasons, is 34-2 in December over the past five seasons with the Cardinals. Both of those losses have come to Kentucky, in 2001 and last season.

GAME NOTES: The DePaul Blue Demons continue their season-long four game road trip when they travel to Norfolk to take on the Old Dominion Monarchs in non- conference action from the Ted Constant Convocation Center. DePaul will not play at home again until December 31st when it hosts Florida International. The last time it played four straight non-conference road games was during the 1997-98 season. The Demons are concluding a stretch of six games in which they faced five opponents that reached the NCAA Tournament last season. DePaul has stepped up to the plate during this tough stretch. It is 2-1 on the road and has won three straight games, including a stunning upset at nationally-ranked Wake Forest last time out. The team may or may not have Karron Clarke on the floor, as he missed the Wake Forest game due to a sprained ankle he suffered in practice. Clarke is day-to-day and is a game time decision. Old Dominion opened CAA play last week and split two league contests. The Monarchs nipped George Mason, 54-53, on December 7th and were handled by Drexel, 61-42, on December 10th. ODU will return to CAA play on January 3rd. The Monarchs are 26-27 all-time against Big East foes. The last time they won a game against a Big East opponent was in the 1999 NIT versus Seton Hall. DePaul leads the all- time series between the two programs, 5-2, including a 73-60 win last season. The two teams have not faced off in Norfolk since 1987-88.

Karron Clarke had been scoring 11.4 points per game before his injury and was shooting 54.2 percent from the floor. He also added 5.9 rebounds per game. His presence is crucial to DePaul's success and the team will miss him if he can't go for the second straight game. Draelon Burns (9.4 ppg) stepped into the starting lineup in his absence. Even without Clarke, the Blue Demons upset No. 16 Wake Forest, 84-81, on Tuesday. Sammy Mejia scored a season-high 24 points. DePaul shot 51.6 percent from the floor and outrebounded Wake, 38-30. Mejia, who led the team in scoring in four of eight games this season, is totaling 15.6 ppg, which ranks 13th in the Big East. He is shooting 50 percent, is pulling down 5.6 rpg and has dished a team-best 21 assists. As a team, DePaul is scoring 65.8 ppg.

ODU enters this game as a solid scoring and rebounding team. The Monarchs are averaging 69 ppg while giving up just 60.9 ppg. They also pull down 37.1 rebounds a night. Arnaud Dahi's 14.5 ppg leads the team and he is shooting a scorching 57.3 percent from the field. He also leads the team in free throw percentage (84.0). Alex Loughton adds 13 ppg and is one of the CAA's top rebounders. He is pulling down 7.8 rpg, good enough for seventh in the league. Loughton leads the team with eight blocked shots. Isaiah Hunter is chipping in 10.9 ppg, but is shooting just 38.1 percent. The ODU defense is holding its opponents to under 40 percent shooting from the floor and is on the plus side in rebounding and turnover margin. Old Dominion struggled to get much going offensively against Drexel. The Monarchs shot a paltry 28.6 percent in the 19- point loss.

Old Dominion will be hard-pressed to beat a DePaul team coming off a big win and the Monarchs can't afford to go flat like they did against Drexel. DePaul should be able to continue its success in this one.
